From what I’ve gathered through glowing reviews, patrons rave about the fried clam and oyster plates, where the generous portions promise not just satisfaction but an excellent value as well. David Peterson perfectly encapsulated the essence of Kaler’s by emphasizing the unadulterated freshness of their seafood. The mussels and fish sandwiches are highly praised, and it is clear that simplicity is key here – no distracting accompaniments, just freshly sourced seafood at its best.
Families love Kaler’s for its welcoming environment. Michael Armstrong’s experience highlights the joy of dining in a cozy atmosphere where children can savor comfort food alongside delectable clam baskets. The outdoor shaded deck adds to the charm, offering a picturesque backdrop for that quintessential Maine meal.
Jenna Q couldn’t have said it better: “hands down our favorite restaurant in the Harbor.” The rustic nautical décor combined with the scenic harbor views creates a cozy dining experience. Notably, the crab dip appetizer comes highly recommended and is a must-try for anyone visiting.
As I sat and savored the experience of Kaler’s, I felt a sense of warmth enveloping me. The friendly staff and the casual order-at-the-counter setup reflect the laid-back charm of the Maine coast. Kelley Davenport remarked on the great food and atmosphere, saying it’s perfect for those who seek straightforward, well-prepared meals without the fuss. If you're after an exquisite dining experience, this might not be the place for you. But if hearty, quality food served in a friendly environment is what you crave, then Kaler’s is a treasure waiting to be discovered.

“ Had a fried clam and oyster plate. Delicious and good portion for the price. ”
“ This is what we were looking for! Too many places “adulterate” their seafood with things like Mac’nCheese. And it isn’t always fresh. We ate in the evening, bringing our granddaughter and her husband for the second night. The mussels were large and fresh; the fish sandwich was juicy and fresh; the fish and clam chowders were great. No fancy additions, just really good seafood. The web site didn’t advertise that it was a Co-Op, but that may explain why everything was so fresh. ”
“ Took the kids to the Botanical Gardens this past weekend and stopped by here afterwards for lunch. The staff were friendly, the prices were very reasonable and the food was excellent (I got the fried clam basket and the kids got mac and cheese and a hot dog). We sat outside and enjoyed the perfect weather on their shaded deck and it couldn't have been a more picture perfect Maine meal. Highly recommended! ”
“ This is hands down our favorite restaurant in the Harbor. They have wonderful food, great staff, some of the best prices in town, and are very family-friendly. My only complaint is that they close for the winter and then we have to settle for second-choice options until spring. I love the rustic nautical decor, cozy atmosphere, location, and views of the harbor. Be sure to try the crab dip appetizer - it is AMAZING!! I could eat it as a meal They seem to attract great clientele as well - I've met some of the nicest tourists there, compared to other places in town. ”
“ Great food and atmosphere. My kind of place. You order at the counter and pick up your food when they call your number. It’s not fancy at all. Prices are really good compared to other places. We weren’t looking for anything fancy and this was just right. We are outside on the deck, probably about 8 tables out there. There is seating inside. The town itself was not busy at all, so we didn’t wait to order. I would imagine, when the harbor area is busy this place would be as well. If you’re looking for fancy, skip this place. If you just want good, reasonable priced food, Kaler’s is your place! ”
“ Casual dining with delicious food. Sampled a lot of the dishes and there were no disappointments. Mussel were perfect, plump and a generous serving . Lobster roll was good in the right bun. Try the sampler of chowders for something a little different. Enjoy. ”
“ Lowkey and casual, just the way we like it. We ordered at the counter from the very helpful and friendly staff then grabbed a seat by the window overlooking the waterfront. The shrimp tacos, spicy lobster corn chowder and blackened swordfish were so good. We chatted with another employee as we were leaving who gave us local recommendations. Really wonderful experience. ”
“ I surprised my husband for a milestone birthday with a trip to the New England states and this place came up as a byproduct. The town is super quaint and everything a "Maine town" should look like... Based on my movie knowledge, of course. For the view and scallops, absolutely worth it! ”
